The Freeport train platform is just steps away from hundreds of national retailers, name-brand outlets, and locally-owned boutiques all set in a 19th century Maine village. The L.L.Bean campus of stores are a block away and open all the time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A variety of restaurants are within walking distance and many of the Freeport accommodations offer free pick-up at the train station to their guests. Kayaking, canoeing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ocean seal tours, and even a desert can all easily be reached by cab or by booking in advance with the provider.

The L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery School offer the outdoor enthusiast, both expert and novice, great ways to get outside and experience the Maine outdoors. Discovery Series classes include paddle boarding, kayaking, fly casting or clay shooting, all led by expert instructors, at a great introductory price. All equipment and transportation is provided. Looking for a longer experience? Try a bike tour, canoe trip or women’s only adventure. New this year, the L.L.Bean Kids Camp welcomes children to experience thrilling outdoor adventures, whether your child attends for a day, a week, or all summer. Also, for kids, Smudge Art Studio leads children in art experiences – either drop them off or while you stay.
